Some oil spill events from Friday, May 7, 2010

March 7 , 2010 there was a big oil spill all over the Gulf of Mexico. It was lead by a explosion and Fire drilling from the Deepwater Horizon.It killed 11 of their workers.The oil is still pouring all over the Gulf and it is starting to undersea the rate is 210,000 gallons a day. The slick threatens the U.S coastline.TheFederal officals said that people that use to fish can't fish anymore because of the oil leak.

I think that they should watch out for what out for the oil because that oil is very dangerous and it could kill people. It already killed more then 5 people so they should atleast find something that could get that stuff out of the water.Most seafood resturants can't make as much money because of the oil too.They are closing all seafood reaturant until it is all over.They also said that it sould mess up people health problems.

A international team of marine biologists found a existing diversity in some coral populations may significantly influence response to extreme temperature disturbances such as those predicted from climate warming. The team demonstrated that natural selection acting on the species of algae living within corals may determine which one will survive when being with extreme temperatures changes.Corals are form from a symbiotic relationship that has photosyntheic algae to survive.According to scientist the coral is very sensitive to the changing in the environment and the temperature.They also are trying to find other scientist to help them predict what would happen to the coral in different weather.

The algae provide the corals with nutrients and energy, while the corals provide the algae with nutrients and a place to live.I think when it gets cold the coral underneath the water dies because of the temperature.When it is hot i think that the coral grows and dies when winter comes unless the scientist find something different.

Neanderthal genes in us

Scientist has found that there are people that might have Neanderthal genes because they could have mixed in with our inheritance. The result comes from analysis of the Neanderthal genome the "instruction manual" describing how these ancient humans was put together. The genomes of 1% to 4% of people in Eurasia come from Neanderthals. The study confirms the living humans overwhelmingly trace their ancestry to a small population of Africans who later spread out across the world. They said that they did not extinct because there is a small group of people from Asia, Europe, and Oceania that appeared to be small but are not. There are not totally extinct in some of us they live on, just a little.
I never knew this could happen to the human race especially to the Homo sapiens. I guess what the researchers say might be true because we really don’t know if the Neanderthals extinct or if they mixed in with us and there Neanderthals that didn’t mix died off. I think this is cool because there is people that now share genes with ancient Ancestors and if we know that they do we could do studies on them to find out what is the difference. Hopefully this is good to all of us because don’t want it to happen where our inheritance becomes extinct like what supposedly happened to them. But I think this does not make a difference because we mostly are alike in everything and that’s good.

Rain Halts Rescue after Kenya landslide kills 8

Due to heavy rainfall and not the right equipment the rescue team could not rescue people from the landslide. The landslide has already killed 8 people and 8 other people are seriously injured. Rescuers say that more people are trapped and the death toll is expected to grow. Villagers have said that the landslide destroyed many households in western Kenya. More than 30 people lived in these houses that were destroyed. Rescuers and other workers have been using shovels and other garden tools to dig out any survivors. Authorities are trying to bring in better equipment while the rain continues to fall.

I think that even though Kenya is a poor country, I think they should proper equipment to handle things like natural disasters. It is important that you should always be prepared because you never know what will happen. Its important to be prepared and have the right tools in case a natural disaster strikes. The U.S. should help give some proper equipment for poor countries like Kenya.

Running On Water

In the US experts agree that we need a new fuel source. They all agreed that hydrogen powered machines are the fuel of tomorrow. In fuel of tomorrow scientists plan to get hydrogen from water. This is the cheapest solution to our fuel problems. The water can even be sea water. It doesn't matter. The water could even be dirty. The only problem is that hydrogen doesn't occur naturally the way that scientists need it.

That is water at its finest. It is really cool that we can get energy from water. Who would have thought. We need to come up with a way to transfer are cars today in to hydro-cars. That would be a good thing to invent. I would have never guessed that the fuel of the future is just ordinary water. Wouldn't this help with help with global warming as well? This is a great alternative fuel source!

European researchers have came up with another type of robot. This robot is for the ageing. It will help you out with your day. It monitors your pulse, that way if something happens to you the robot will call 911. It is hoped to increase elderly peoples' life span. It make sure the environment that you are in is a safe one. Its main purpose is to serve people with chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD). It should be available in 2030.

This is a very cool devise. This robot will probably will end up saving thousands of lives. I bet these things are not the cheapest thing in the world. It is amazing how much we have learned about technology in the past couple of years. I think we need to build more robots for different disease. That would help the world out tremendously. Hospitals need to be the first ones to be able to buy these robots. I would like to have a robot when I get old.

Bet You Wish You Had This Camera

In Germany scientists have made the "LUCIFER 1". It is a camera that will hopefully help the scientists see new stars being created. It uses infrared technology to see really far out. Even in its testing phase it has taken a close up picture of galaxy 6.2 million light years away. They are in the process of making another one. They say that they still have not yet been able to get all of the bugs out. It has 18 high quality filters. The scientist think that it will be completely ready by 2011.

This is just awesome. I think this a great achievement for scientists. Hopefully, by watching new stars form we can learn more about how our star formed. This achievement can lead up to so many new discoveries. It is really cool how far out this camera can see. I wish I hat a camera like this. I bet it is extremely expensive piece of equipment. I wonder what we will be able to see in 20 years.
