Vog on Hawaii's Big Island Leads to Disaster Declaration
Vog, is also known as volcanic smog and particularly in Hawaii the vog found is from the Volcano Kilauea. Kilauea releases sulfur dioxide which forms vog when mixed with sunlight and dust. The vog has a negative impact on plants because the vog burns and dries plants. In my opinion, seeing how Hawaii is mostly known for its beautiful plants and trees along with the views. Dried up dead plants aren't going to look well. The U.S. Department of Agriculture is now giving low funds to help clean the air and replant plants. Different farms and areas of land were affected badly as well.
