People With Sickel-Cell Anemia Usually Have A Lower Than Average IQ. Researchers Report In The May 12th Journal Of The American Medical Association The The Poor Performance Comes Even When The MRI Scan Shows No Brain Damage And They Have No Other Complications From The Disease, Except For Anemia And Pain. "These Neurocognitive Effects Are An Invisible Complication Of The Central Nervous System In Sickle-Cell Disease", Stated Samir Ballas. Sickle-Cell Anemia Results From An Inherited Genetic Mutation That Causes Red Blood Cells To Take On A Curved Or Sickle Shape That Impairs Blood Flow, Thwarts Oxygen Delievery And Leads To A Host Of Other Problems.
My Opinion On This Article Is That They Are Doing A Good Job On The Studies. I Think They Should Try To Find A Cure For Sickle-Cell Disease So That People With The Disease Isnt In Pain All The Time, This Cure Could Really Help Alot Of People. The Blood Transfusions Should Help The Pain A Little Bit Also. Hopefully People With Sickle-Cell Wont Get Blood Clots And Die.
