This artical is about how people with "Fragile X Syndrome" more commonly known as autism recoil from hugs and physical touch. People with autism have a delayed sensory cortex with affects how their brain reacts to touch. Problems with this can have a domino effect and affect other parts of the brain. There is a time when the brain is changing so rapidly. This is when the symptoms can start occurring. Autistic people do not look into peoples' eyes and do not like physical contact with others. This is because of the delayed sensory corex.
I find this interesting because I didn't even know that autistic people didn't like physical touch. Although, it does make sense that there would be a delay in the brain causing the dislike of it. The artical affects me some because one of the children I babysit has autism and I can understand him better now because of the facts. I can notice what kind of things he doesn't like as for physical contact because I have a better understanding of it. I think it's a great medical discovery because now they can understand autistic ways better also.
