This is awesome that the scientist have figured out there is more than one type of killer whale. I have always thought there was only one type of killer whale, but it turns out there are many. I think it would be fun to get samples of DNA and then match them up with others to see which ones are the same type. Its really good that these scientists are discovering things like this for not a whole lot of money. We do need to know these things, but at least were not spending tons of money on it. I think the scientists should come up with different names for the types of killer whales so then we know which type someone was talking about.

Several Different Species of Killer Whales Likely
Scientists have found several species of killer whales based on the differences of behavior, feeding, and physical features. They have taken samples from 139 killer whales from the North Pacific and analyzed them. Scientists have found all kinds of species because of the difference in the types of food they eat. Scientists are also trying to save money by using sequencing of DNA instead of historical methods of analysis. Sequencing of DNA lets us research more whales at one time. Determining how many species of killer wales there are is important so resource managers can better understand the ecological role of this predator.
