In new studdies it has been found that hand sanitizer is better than handwashing. Not just any hand sanitizer though. It was said that the sanitizers with ethanol is more effective than washing hands with soap and water. Hand Sanitizers with both ethanol and organic acids reduced recovery of the rhinovirus infection up to four hours. The rhinovirus is the common cause in adults colds.

"Sanitizer better than handwashing?" I never knew that was possible. But as you think about it, its a logical process. hand sanitizer has more chemicals than soap. So the hand sanitizer should be "healthier" or better to decrease infections. This makes me want to find the kind of sanitidzer with the ethanol in it.

new dinosaurs
In Utah it was said they have found a new species of dinosaurs. Scientists have found a rare skelekton of a plant-eating dinosaur. It was said that the dinosaur to have lived 185 million years ago. Also it was suspected to be buried alive by a colapsing sand dume. The discovery confirms that the dinosaur lived during the early Jurassic period.

I wish i could see this dinosaur skelekton. I think that is so cool, i never knew there were still skelektons out there. Now that i see there is, i bet there are tons of more. Sometimes i wish there were still dnosaurs, because i think it would be so amazing to see. Maybe oneday dinosaurs will comeback, only time will tell.

can hair dye and smoking cause liver disease
Hair dye and smoking both increase the risk of a progressive liver disease. Primary biliary cirrhosis(PBC) is a form of liver cirrhosis. Autoimmune diseases such as arthritis, thyroid, rheumatoid, and coeliac were common with those who have PBC. Also those who have a family history of autoimmune disease came across to having PBC. People to geth this disease was more likely to smoke than to drink alcohol. Scientist are looking at if the chemicals in cosmetics are more of a cause for the PBC.

Wow this was actually shocking to read. I never thought hair dye could be a factor of liver disease. I did suspect smoking and drinking, but never hair dye. Now this makes me never to want to dye my hair. But also the chemicals in the hair dye is also found in finger nail polish.

volcano
Early Sunday morning a volcano erupted in south Iceland. It was said that the thirty-story-tall lava fountains shoot a half mile long. The volcano that erupted was the Eyjafjallajokull. As a result of this volcano erupting flights were not allowed to land in the airspace on sunday, but monday it seemed to be getting back to normal. The volcano island lies south of the Artic Circle atop of the Mid-Alantic Ridge. This is where two tectonic plates have been pulling apart.

I think volcanoes are so intresting. I would love to see one someday. I never knew there were volcanoes in Iceland. Well truthfully I dont know where any volcanoes are located. But i dont want to see it when its erupting. I also want to see lava.

living fossils?
The coelacanth fish was known to have gone extinct with the dinosaurs 65 million years ago. In 1938 a fisherman was fishing off a coatline and caught one of those fish. There are two known species, one found on the est coast if Africa and the othe off the coast of Indonesia. These fishes average life span is up to 60 years. Coelacanth fish are known to be six an a half feet lond and can weight up to 200 pounds. What the sad thing is that there are only about 1000 of coelacanth fish left.

I think it is great that there are still these kinda fish. It is really neat that they were known to be extinct wtih the dinosaurs. If there was a way to help/make the coelacanth fish mate there would be more fish. But it is not good because there are only 1000 of these fish left, which means it is an endangered speices.

alchohol could be good for u
a new study shows that alcohol drinkin in moderation could help sick hearts. this study was done at an italian catholic university. the alcohol can help prevent strokes, heart attacks and other heart diseases by 20%. scientists say drink in moderation to prevent addictions or unhealthy habits. moderated drinking can also improve the health of a person. they studied 16000 people.
this to me is beneficial and non beneficial. it could be beneficial because of the increase of health and decrease in risk of heart disease. i think it is unbeneficial because of a risk of addiction and serious drinking habits. plus for some people drinking is against there morals or religion so they would not partake of any alcoholic beverage. this treatment isnt for every person.

walnuts and tumors
in this article walnuts have slowed down prostate tumors in mice. this study was done by scientists at UC davis and the department of agriculture. the study shows that a certain amount of walnuts consumed can control tumor growth in mice and humans. walnuts are high in fat are still healthy and rich in nutrients. the walnuts reduce tumor growth by 30 - 40%.
this could be very bneneficial for humans and could save many lives. the only set back is that some people are allergic to nuts and wouldnt be able to have this treatment. also some ppl may have sensititve teeth and my not be able to consume walnuts easily. another is that walnuts arent a drug and it probably wont motivate people to consume it.

I find this super interesting. I think that it is very weird to see the lava on top, if only for a little bit, of the ice. I had no idea that there were even volcanos under Iceland. I have never seen a valcono up close, but I would like to. Not when its erupting of course.

EGGSHELL writings(:
This story was about how acient people wrote on different materials in symbols. New studies show that, an ancient culture in South Africa used ostrich eggshells to make symbols 60,000 years ago. These shells represent some of the earliest evidence yet for people engraving designs. The eggshells were discovered over the last few years. They were all found in peices with little symbol sctrachings on them. The largest peice found was as big as a thumbnail. There were 270 peices found. They had to have come from more than 25 eggs. There were little patterns on the eggs as if there were letters. That is all they had. Until then they have no further information on the shells. In my opinion , the scientists should look further into the eggshells. I think it would be a good source to find out things from ancient times. Thge should also preserve the shells by putting them on display or something for other people to look at.
WHO , walked on this path ?
This article is about scientists finding footprints for 30 years ago. The discovery comes from a trackway site in Laetoli, Tanzania. Researchers discovered footprint trails from a few human ancestors who had walked across a wet field. The footprints shows that the hominids made a deep heel and toe imprints when they walked across a soft surface. That pattern is a cardinal sign of a humanlike gait. Gait is is the pattern of movement of the limbs of animals, including humans. Previous calculations of Laetoli footprint depths were similar to the even heel and toe depths left by people walking in their usual fashion. They still dont know where these footprints came from. I believe that these footprints did come from humans. The way the footprints are described seems that it hadf to have been a early human creature. Hopefully they will find out what really made the footprints.
